.::.. CATTERY ..::. Map

My name is Eeva Jokipelto. I live with my husband Timo and our pets in Turku, the old capital of Finland, in south-west coast about 2 hours drive from Helsinki-Vantaa airport. I got my cattery prefix from FIFé in 2003 and I have bred 6 litters so far.

I have a very small Cornish Rex cattery and I intend it to stay that way. My cats are my beloved pets and family members and I do my best to keep them happy; I keep the number of my cats small to avoid large population related problems, e.g. stress. I do not recycle my breeding cats, unless replacement is absolutely necessary for the wellbeing of the cat him/herself. I feel they all deserve a permanent home from the start and that’s why I prefer to place some of my breeding cats to foster-homes where they can live their entire lives in the same place as beloved pets without the need to move many times. My foster-queens will have kittens in their own homes.

In my breeding, I value heath and temperament the most. I love active, playful and curious Cornish Rex cats. In type wise, I like slender & muscular body, huge & wellset ears, strong chin, straight profile and marvellous curly coat. Genetics and pedigrees are very important tools in my breeding work; they usually weight even more than good looks or show merits alone. That’s why I try to work with many as different lines as possible keeping inbreeding very low and co-operation with suitable breeders both in Finland and abroad plays a big part in my breeding also in the future. I like CFA typed body a lot, but I don’t wish to forget the more traditional Scandinavian/European lines either. Those two types look very different indeed, but both have their good qualities and immunological variety is valuable to the breed’s future. My "dream cat" has best parts of both types.

At the moment I have only 3 adult cats at home: Merri (soon 12 years old neuter), Honey (soon 5 years old US import female) and Darla (4½ years old spay). My other past and future breeding cats live with their own families as they have lived from the beginning. I'm endlessly grateful to my fosterfamilies for their love and care that makes it possible to continue my breeding with those cats -- thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Eeva JokipeltoI don’t have kittens very often; normally only once or twice a year. I always have long-term breeding plans; every single mating is carefully combined both in type-wise and pedigree-wise – I don’t make kittens just because “they are fun” – kittens mean always a lot of work, responsibility and trouble. Thou I enjoy watching them grow and play. I want to give each one (kitten and adult) the time, love and care they need and deserve. My kittens are born in our bedroom and they are well socialised from the beginning. My foster-queens will have kittens in their own homes, but they will be raised with same love and care than kittens born with me. All the cats I use in my breeding are FeLV, FIV and dermatophytosis (=ringworm) tested and negative, their blood type is known, they are microchipped and they all have nice temperaments and are healthy.

I don’t sell breeding cats to people I don’t know, nor to large catteries nor to be caged. My kittens are looking for permanent, loving and caring homes as indoor cats for their entire lives. Sometimes I'm looking for suitable fosterhomes for my babies -- if you think that might suit you, please contact me for more info -- I have very reasonable terms! Showing is always optional and up to new owners' own interest - naturally I'm more than happy to see my most promising babies in shows and I'm always ready to help you get started!

If you wish to adopt Alchemist kitten(s), don’t hesitate to contact me! Please tell me something about yourself, your family, other pets and home plus your hopes about the kitten’s sex, colour and quality – I’ll do my best to fulfil your hopes! I'm also ready to answer ANY questions about us, our cats or kittens, so email me!

Hope you enjoy your visit – don’t forget to leave your pawprint to my guestbook!

Eeva
